The gas boundary of the Ethereum-Minnet could theoretically grow 100 times and reach 2,000 transactions per second as a part of a brand new Ethereum Improvement (EIP), which was presented by the Ethereum Foundation researcher thanks.
Feist, who had the information storage solution of the blockchain named after him, presented EIP-9698 on April 27, which introduced a “deterministic gas limit wax plan” from Epoch 369017 or around June 1st.
The proposal would progressively increase the gas limit for about two years by an element of 10 or 164,250 epochs if a final increase was increased.
Ethereum customers would need to vote on the proposal to enter into force, said Feist.
“By introducing a predictable exponential growth pattern as a customer failure, this EIP promotes a sustainable and transparent gas limit that’s aligned with the expected progress within the efficiency of hardware and protocol,” he added.
Since Ethereum in blocks which can be dominated by easy transactions can occasionally reach as much as 20 TPS, a rise within the gas limit of 100x could theoretically increase Ethereum to 2,000. Feist's proposal would higher position Ethereum to compete with people like Solana who currently processes a non -structured TPS between 800 and 1,050 and has a theoretical TP of 65,000.

The EIP would expand the present gas limit from 36 million to three.6 billion and possibly to be that around 6,000 transactions in Ethereum blocks fit.
Feist's proposal after Ethereum had agreed to extend the gas limit from 30 million to 36 million in February.
Previously, the last change within the gas border from Ethereum occurred in August 2021 under the Hardbagel in London, where the number doubled from 15 to 30 million.

Feist admitted that a rapid increase within the gas border can emphasize less optimized nodes after its proposal and increase the block expansion times.
“However, the exponential schedule with very gradual steps per epoch gives node operators and developers enough time to adapt and optimize themselves,” he said.
EIP-9698 marks the newest efforts by the Ethereum community to extend scalability on the bottom layer after they’ve mainly focused on scaling the solutions in Layer 2 lately.
Critics of Ethereum's Layer-2-focused strategy claim that it broke the ecosystem in several syllable chains with low interoperability, which ends up in poorer user experience.
