Fire Breaks Out at Cryptocurrency Mining Facility

A fireplace broke out on November 11 at a cryptocurrency mining facility under construction in Massillon, Ohio. The facility, owned by Bitdeer, is situated at 1115 Industrial Ave SW. Fortunately, nobody was hurt or transported to the hospital.

The Incident

According to Fire Chief Matt Heck, the fireplace was reported around 2 p.m. Firefighters found two buildings under construction that were on fire. These buildings are a part of a fancy of 24 buildings being built to accommodate servers for cryptocurrency mining. The servers use high-powered, high-speed computers to unravel crypto challenges and earn cryptocurrency.

Cause of the Fire

The explanation for the fireplace is just not yet clear. Heck said that investigators will look into whether any construction activities are accountable. The fire began in a single constructing on the location’s southeast corner and spread to an adjoining constructing attributable to wind. So far, no signs of arson have been found.

The Massillon Fire Department was in a position to put out the fireplace without calling for mutual aid assistance from other fire departments.
