The Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) chosen avalanche to provide its dedicated blockchain network for non-macellosis tokens and digital fan engagements, the organization announced on May twenty second.
The blockchain of the FIFA-Layer-1 (L1) is driven by the scalability-oriented infrastructure of the Avalanch network for the association's five billion fans worldwide.
The move takes place almost a month after FIFA has announced its first plans for the introduction of a brand new network for its blockchain-based collectors. The compatibility of Avaclouds Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) enables more smooth integration into decentralized wallets and applications.
The move enables FIFA to “deliver unique digital collectibles and immersive fan experiences which can be operated by speed, scalability and EVM compatibility,” said Francesco Abbate, CEO from Modex and FIFA Collect.
“The decision was based on a strict evaluation of key aspects, including performance, security, transaction fees, adaptability and scalability,” said Abbate in a announcement shared with coinctions on May 22.
FIFA Collect begins with migration into the avalanche
As a part of the rollout, FIFA will migrate its NFT Marketplace and the FIFA Collect NFT collection into the brand new FIFA blockchain from Avalanche.
The FIFA added that “future plans and business cases are planned, but haven’t yet been announced publicly”.
After the migration, external wall exchanges equivalent to Pera and ELO are not any longer supported. Instead, users can connect with FIFA collecting via Metamask or other EVM money exchanges that support WalletConnect.
FIFA began its NFF collection before the 2023 World Cup in Saudi Arabia in cooperation with the Blockchain Firma Modex.
