Bitcoin miners are banking on profits after Jane Street revealed their stakes

Shares of crypto mining corporations rallied on Friday, with Bitfarms, Cipher Mining and Hut 8 extending gains after trading firm Jane Street disclosed sizable positions in all three Bitcoin mining corporations.

Filings with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission on Thursday show that Jane Street's trading subsidiaries own about 5.4% of Bitfarms, 5% of Cipher Mining and 5% of Hut 8, which represent passive trading positions fairly than activist holdings.

Following the news, shares rose 8% to 13% on Thursday and posted further gains on Friday.

As of market close on Friday, Bitfarms (BITF) was up 10.68%, Cipher Mining (CIFR) was up 19.73% and Hut 8 (HUT) was up around 17.27%, in accordance with data from Yahoo Finance.

Other Bitcoin mining stocks also posted gains on Friday, including American Bitcoin Corp. (+11.29%), IREN Limited (+12.60%) and Hive Digital Technologies (+17.77%).

Jane Street, a number one proprietary trading and market-making firm lively in equities and digital assets, first announced its exposure to Bitcoin miners in 2023 through its investment in Marathon Digital (MARA) holdings.

Jane Street's disclosure got here after Google announced on September 25 that it had acquired a 5.4% stake in Cipher Mining.

Bitcoin mining corporations will outperform Bitcoin in 2025

Bitcoin mining, the means of using specialized computers to unravel complex mathematical problems to confirm transactions and put recent bitcoins into circulation, is critical to maintaining network operations and security.

While individual Bitcoin miners occasionally get lucky and mine a block, the industry is increasingly dominated by Bitcoin mining corporations, most of which have seen significant growth in 2025.

Over the past 12 months, many Bitcoin mining corporations have overtaken Bitcoin itself.

Bitfarms is up nearly 131% and Hut 8 is up around 211% over the past 12 months, in accordance with data from Yahoo Finance. At the time of writing, Bitcoin is up about 73% in a 12 months.
