The Ethereum Foundation (EF) has restructured its internal development group, renamed its core research team and dismissed some employees.
According to an announcement of June 2, the previous team of the EF team for Protocol Research & Development (PR & D) is now simply “protocol”, which focuses on three strategic goals: scaling of the fundamental layer (L1), expanding blobspace for rollups and improving the user experience (UX).
“This technique of” shipping protocol “is messy and asks us to react proactively to requirements which are difficult to articulate and are even harder to fulfill,” said the EF.
The foundation marketed the move as a vital moment for Ethereum, since progress in Rollups (ZKEVMS) and Layer-2 technologies press the blockchain closer to the introduction on a big scale.

Ethereum's Shak-up continues
The EF has experienced significant leadership and structural changes previously few months.
